Bigin started as the simplest possible CRM for solopreneurs and tiny teams. Pipeline Plus is the upgrade that made it real for service businesses: agencies, consultancies, and trades that need more than one pipeline but less than full Zoho CRM.
What Pipeline Plus actually adds
Multi-pipeline (sales, onboarding, delivery, renewal as separate boards). Multi-user team views with role-based visibility. Lightweight workflows. Custom fields without paying for full CRM. Mobile-first stays the headline; teams of 3-15 are the sweet spot.
When to migrate from spreadsheets to Pipeline Plus
You have a Google Sheet of clients with status columns. Two people edit it at once and overwrite each other. Reminders live in your head. Time to migrate when:
- Client count over 20
- Two or more people need to update the same record
- Renewals or recurring engagements (you forget which is up next)
- Status changes need to trigger emails or tasks
Pipelines for a typical agency
Pipeline 1: Sales. Stages: Inquiry, Qualified, Scoping, Proposal, Won, Lost. Pipeline 2: Project Delivery. Stages: Kickoff, Discovery, Build, QA, Launched. Pipeline 3: Retainer Renewals. Stages: Healthy, At Risk, Renewing, Renewed, Churned.
Same Account record flows across all three pipelines. The stage in each tells you something different.
Team views without role-confusion
Founder sees all pipelines. AEs see Sales only. Project managers see Delivery only. CSM sees Renewals. Each role gets a clean board with no scroll-through-irrelevant-stages problem.
Workflows you should ship day one
When deal moves to Won in Sales pipeline, auto-create a Delivery pipeline record for the same Account. When Delivery moves to Launched, auto-create a Renewal pipeline record with renewal date set 11 months out.
Time-tracking integration
Bigin does not track time. Most agencies use Zoho Projects or Harvest. Connect via Zoho Flow: hours logged in Projects roll up to a custom field on the Bigin Delivery record. PMs see budget burn without leaving Bigin.
Email and meeting capture
Bigin’s IMAP and Zoho Mail integration logs sent and received emails on the contact record. For solo and small teams, this is the single highest-value feature. Every conversation lands on the right record without anyone copying CC: crm@.
Reporting limits
Bigin’s reporting is dashboards, not full Analytics. For service businesses, the standard dashboards (deals by stage, revenue by month, pipeline value) are usually enough. If you need cohort analysis or LTV modeling, you have outgrown Bigin.
Pricing math vs full Zoho CRM
Bigin Pipeline Plus is roughly one-third the price of Zoho CRM Standard. For a 10-person team, that is meaningful. Trade-off: no advanced workflows, no Zia, no custom modules, limited APIs. If your processes fit in pipelines, the savings stay.
Migration path to full CRM
The day Bigin stops fitting (you need multi-currency, complex approvals, account hierarchies, advanced scoring), Bigin’s data exports cleanly to CRM. Plan the upgrade as a project, not a panic.
What to do this week: if you are on the old Bigin or worse, on a spreadsheet, set up the three-pipeline template above with one real client moving through it. Decide on a 30-day evaluation, not a perpetual pilot.
